Huntington, Sarah-Blue Ridge MountainsBlue Ridge Mountains Photography 12 x 16 $200 Sarah Huntington | Block, Anne-Hiking_Sky_Meadows_State_ParEmbrace the beauty of the Piedmont region while walking Sky Meadows State Park. I was inspired to paint this couple walking down the mountainside on one of my many hikes. The fall golds and emeralds were reflected in the rolling countryside. The air was crisp and the breezes calm. Mulvena, Danny-Over the Next HillThese barns reminded me of an alien spacecraft coming over the horizon. I was taken by the progression of old to newer barns and sheds, from the original silo to the first large barn with its many outgrowths of smaller barn and shed additions, most still in good shape, to the newer deteriorating metal sheds, finally, the newer still in service silo on the left. The mowed and rotting pasture makes an interesting foreground Over the Next Hill Watercolor 26 x 34 $800 Danny Mulvena | Walsh, William-Hiding PlaceHiding Place Acrylic 15.75 x 18.75 $450 William Walsh | Hopkins, Laura-November SnowThis imagined snow scene typifies the beautiful landscape that surrounds me in western Loudoun County covered in an early snow. As a painter of Tonalist landscapes, I have a special affinity for the seasons of autumn and winter, and focus my work on portraying mood and emotion in scenes of dawn, twilight, and evening. I especially enjoy painting snow scenes at twilight. November Snow Oil on canvas 20 x 24 $625 Laura Hopkins |

Not seen here: the family of North American river otters who would appear moments later. This family or romp of otters had made the area beneath the bridge their playground for the evening, an amazing indication of the health of the Goose Creek ecosystem. Carroll, Margaret-Morning FogMorning Fog (Reference photo, courtesy of Mark Deane) Oil 17 x 13 $300 Margaret Carroll | Chirieleison, Mike-Sentinels of OatlandsThese trees found at Oatlands jumped out at Mike as two of the most impressive trees he’s come across in recent memory. Their fascinating texture and the weaving roots add the perfect foreground element to the twisted and complicated puzzle of foliage seen above. Salvatori, Stephanie-Nature's QuiltNature’s Quilt – The patchwork of the countryside provided a feeling of warmth on this cold winter day in Virginia. Natures’ Quilt Photography 13 x 16 $165 Stephanie Salvatori | Mulvena, Danny-Mutt's BarnI came across that tabby napping in the sun inside this old bank barn. He wasn't interested in posing and took off before I could get a shot of him. Had to use one of our old cats as a model. I was in there for a sketch of the stonework and the lighting, but couldn't resist putting him in at the last moment. It looked unfinished without him. Mutt's Barn Watercolor 23 x 20 $600 Danny Mulvena | Weed, Peggy-Summer Fields-updateThere is such a peaceful feeling watching cows and sheep grazing in summer fields. Summer Fields Oil 11 x 14 $525 Peggy Weed |
Kray, Dorothy-HoneyHe made this creature fluffy, prettiest color of red, as He could. He gave them kits, dens, and placed them in meadows and wood. He gave them an appetite for smaller animals like mice and bunny. He gave them craftiness, and a love for their little family. Honey. Weed, Peggy-The Spring HouseThis old spring house is out in the mountains in Western Virginia - I thought the color of the pink brick was so beautiful set in this old pasture The Spring House Oil 12 x 16 $600 Peggy Weed | Huntington, Sarah-Laundry and SyacamoreLaundry and Sycamore Tree Photography 14 x 14 $275 Sarah Huntington | Padilla, Chito-HarvestPiedmont soils are generally clay-like and moderately fertile. In some areas they have suffered from erosion and over-cropping, particularly in the South where cotton was historically the chief crop. In the central Piedmont region of North Carolina and Virginia, tobacco is the main crop, while in the north region there is more diversity, including orchards, dairying, and general farming. I tried to capture the above in this piece. Harvest Acrylic/Mixed media 24 x 18 $395 Chito Padilla |

Amish Draft Mule Team Color Photography 12.5 x 15 $185 Ron Salmon | Jenkin, Doris_BlueRidgeParkwayBlush_oil.It was the lovely peachy pink flowers and the old split rail fence that caught my attention and made me want to paint this. The minister of my church took this photograph of a field in the Blue Ridge Mountain area. The lighting of a beautiful sunny day brought out all the colors of early Autumn. Blue Ridge Parkway Blush Oil on canvas 15 x 17 $385 Doris Jenkins | Reid, Anne-Cows, Hume, VACows, Hume, VA Mixed media 12 x 16 $500 Anne Reid |
Sharpe, Susan-The Pasture Under the HillThis painting began as I was driving around new roads one day, hungry for images to paint. I had stopped by a cemetery but happened to turn around and saw an ordinary field, hedge and piedmont hill. Nothing to focus on, but I snapped a photo which stayed in my phone for a couple of years until it inspired a painting. There is something so lovely in our daily, ordinary piedmont landscapes. The Pasture Under the Hill Oil on canvas 11 x 14 $400 Susan Sharpe | Sharpe, Susan-Summer EveningFor this painting I started with color, the dark blues and greens at the bottom, and then moved gradually upward toward light, letting the literal subject work itself out as dark and light tones seemed to make a composition. The trunks of the trees – alder shrubs, I think they are, growing at the edge of a spring – were made with the blunt end of a brush. Summer Evening Oil on canvas 16 x 20 $500 Susan Sharpe | Hopkins, Laura-Moonrise Over DelaplaneThis painting portrays a beautiful December Evening near Delaplane. I frequently visit the farms and fields around Delaplane and Rectortown in the late afternoon and early evening in hopes of running across a scene such as this one. Moonrise over Delaplane Oil on canvas 12.5 x 14.5 $325 Laura Hopkins |

Reconstructed circa 1933, the bridge is located at the base of Little Round Top. Sidewall cap stones, taken from a nearby quarry, have dinosaur footprints. Plum Ridge Bridge Color Photography 12.5 x 15 $185 Ron Salmon | Sharpe, Suan-Threatening RainBecause our house is located on a hill, we see many skies from the windows, and even more when we return from a walk looking up at our destination. This sky was tumultuous with clouds at different heights and densities, and I tried to paint the way they made me feel more than the way they looked. Mulvena, Danny-The Long GoodbyeI have painted this farm many times over the last 20 years. The couple that owned it aged, the buildings slowly declined. The old couple had passed or moved on. There was little to paint but a pile of rubble. When I got back to my studio I found one of the last drawings I had done of the scene. I felt keeping it 'bare bones' might make a nice little good bye painting The frame was made from a board off the barn on the right. Padilla, Chito-Sundown in the PiedmontThis is an abstract of a Piedmont landscape on a crisp afternoon in the Fall when the sun is about to take its rest. It invites the viewer to enjoy the scenery on while on a late afternoon drive. The air bears the early cool of autumn but the last rays of the sun linger long enough to nip the chill. Sundown in the Piedmont Acrylic 12 x 12 $295 Chito Padilla | Block, Anne-Sunrise LoudounThis Halloween sunset was seen in out Piedmont region during the autumn season. It was vibrant, but fleeting. The oranges, golds and fuchsias were intense as the sun set to the west. Loudoun Sunrise Oil on linen 24 x 20 $444 Anne Marshall Block | Padilla, Chito-Piedmont PlateauI search “Piedmont” in Google looking for a suggestion for a painting. “The Piedmont is a plateau region located in the Eastern United States. It sits between the Atlantic coastal plain and the main Appalachian Mountains, stretching from New York in the north to central Alabama in the south.... With this introduction, I started to paint and called the result “Piedmont Plateau”. Piedmont Plateau Acrylic 18 x 24 $395 Chito Padilla |
Hopkins, Laura-Blue Ridge SnowThis painting offers an imagined view of our local countryside at sunset. As a painter in the American Tonalist tradition, I endeavor to suggest the feeling or mood of a place rather than depict a specific recognizable scene. It is my hope that as you view this painting the scene becomes special and personal to you—that it becomes your place. Jenkins, Doris_BlueRidgeParkwayVista_oilI could picture myself standing on this large rock looking out over this gorgeous view on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The bright colored leaves on some shrubs and trees popped against the green and blue greens of the foliage and rolling mountains and valleys. I tried to bring this lovely photo taken by the minister of my church to life. Mike and his wife hiked to the falls on the last day of their honeymoon and he was rewarded with this shot just before the heavens opened up and a thunderstorm chased them back up the mountains to Skyline Drive. Jenkins, Doris_RusticCountryView_OilOn a trip to Frederick, Maryland and the Catoctin Mountain area, my husband and I drove down some back roads. The photograph made me want to paint this lovely country scene. I loved the clouds and the rustic fence was old and fragile but endearing. The whole scene was filled with beauty and peace.
